How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?
Once a year for most homes, more if the run is long or the dryer takes two cycles to dry a load. Lint in the duct is the leading cause of dryer fires. We clean the full run from the dryer to the exterior hood, then test airflow with the dryer running.
Can you replace a smoke detector?
Yes. Battery units (we bring 10-year sealed ones) and like-for-like swaps of hardwired heads on the existing wiring, which NJ code treats as ordinary maintenance. Adding a detector where there's no wiring is new work for an electrician.
What's the best way to use a Visit for maintenance?
Walk the house before we come and text us the list with photos. Two hours covers a surprising amount when the parts are on the truck and we're not guessing what's needed.
