Carpentry Questions.
How much does small carpentry work cost?
Most small carpentry jobs fit the $295 handyman visit, which covers up to 2 hours of skilled work: a stair rail refastened, trim replaced, a shelf built in. Bigger builds step up to the flat Half Day ($525) or Full Day ($995), or get one written price at the estimate. Either way you know the number before the saw comes out.
What counts as a small job?
The work most carpenters will not return calls for: one damaged piece of trim, a sagging shelf, a door that needs planing, rotted exterior wood around a door frame, a wobbly railing. Small jobs are our specialty, not our leftovers.
Do you match existing trim and molding?
Yes. Matching a 60-year-old profile is often possible with stock pieces or by layering cuts, and we will tell you honestly at the estimate when an exact match is not available and show you the closest option.
Do you build custom shelving and storage?
Yes: pantry shelving, closet systems, garage storage, built-ins around fireplaces and window seats. Solid materials, anchored into studs, built to be loaded up.
Do you repair rotted wood outside?
Yes. Door frames, trim boards, deck boards and railings, and shed doors are common calls. We cut out the rot, treat the area, and rebuild with material rated for the exposure.
